Tsunamis (large waves formed by rapid mass movements) are a secondary effect of geological events like earthquakes, submarine slides and rock falls in fjords and lakes.
* NGI is the host of the INTERNATIONAL CENTRE for GEOHAZARDS, one of Norway's first Centres of Excellence (CoE). NGI's partners are NORSAR, the Geological Survey of Norway, the University of Oslo and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
